چکیده
Necrotizing Fasciitis (NF) is a rapid spreading lethal infection of the skin, muscles and soft tissues, with progressive inflammation along tissue planes local destruction. The varied clinical presentation often leads to misdiagnosis. Various co-morbidities can influence course disease. Considering life-threatening nature condition, this study undertaken identify significant prognostic factors, which will facilitate early diagnosis intervention for an optimal outcome. Laboratory Risk Indicators for Necrotizing Fasciitis and Associations with Mortality
OBJECTIVES Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) is rare but life threatening soft tissue infection characterized by a necrotizing process of the subcutaneous tissues and fascial planes. The Laboratory Risk Indicator for Necrotizing Fasciitis (LRINEC) score has been verified as a useful diagnostic tool for detecting necrotizing fasciitis. A certain LRINEC score might also be associated with mortality. The...

Necrotizing fasciitis was diagnosed in 16 patients during the years 1980 to 1984. All patients were managed by a uniform protocol consisting of radical excisional surgery, intravenous antibiotics, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. An overall mortality rate of 12.5% was achieved. In view of the encouraging results, this therapeutic regimen is highly recommended.
